| Description: | Compensation: ~$260K; DOE (base + bonus) Position Description: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Corporate Controller (Controller) is responsible for oversight of all accounting activities. This position oversees accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, and ensures compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, lender reporting, and regulatory requirements. The Controller reviews all accounting operations and works with teams with functional responsibility over GL accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, fuel, retail, and tax accounting. The Controller is responsible for the integrity of GAAP and tax reporting and ensures that systems, procedures, and controls are in place and operating to support that reporting as well as management information. In addition, the Controller works towards achieving better integration across all functional areas in the company. The Corporate Controller has direct responsibility for the Tax and Internal Audit Team and indirect responsibility for the functional accounting teams. Qualifications: • Bachelor Degree in accounting or finance or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience • CPA/MBA preferred • Convenience retail / fuel experience using PDI/Enterprise (preferred) • Extensive acquisition integration experience (preferred) • 10 years of experience managing people • Knowledge of and skill in using Microsoft Excel and other common tools used in accounting • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Sound judgment • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must speak English. Essential Job Functions: • Consistently analyzes accounting data to ensure material accuracy • Maintains internal controls and ensures functional teams are operating them effectively • safeguards assets and expenditures • Coordinates audit and tax activity with CPA firm and internal resources and stakeholders • Ensures cash is properly stated and controlled • Understands and continually improves all departmental processes • Adjusts personal and team priorities based on management, business, or regulatory needs • Respond to and assists in resolving issues in a timely manner • Acts as a change agent for his or her team when implementing new processes or systems • Leads accounting staff by providing support and decision making as needed • Provides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization • Creates and promotes a positive, supportive, and diverse work environment with a team focus |
