Summary

Our client, a highly successful and growing marketer in the Northeast, has retained our firm to identify a Director of Marketing. The selected candidate will be responsible for leadership, planning, development, implementation and monitoring of integrated marketing plans to drive profitable revenue and market share growth for our client.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop and implement a range of long and short-term corporate marketing strategies and tactics to build sales and gross profits for both retail and food service products and deliver on the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction.
  2. Participate in development of retail solutions and support sales organizational strategies through integrated marketing plans that include demand creation and customer education.
  3. Identifies, solicits, and reinforces positive business relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure that the company obtains optimum products, costs, and promotional opportunities. Works with suppliers to correct any product and/or distribution problems.
  4. Work with the Director of Operations and Merchandising Specialist to establish profitable pricing strategies and policies.
  5. Communicate merchandising principles to store managers to provide customers with a consistent shopping experience.
  6. Creates and/or contributes to the creation of new foodservice menu items.
  7. Analyze and report on the results of implemented marketing campaigns and initiatives. Adjust tactics as needed.
  8. Resolves merchandising related problems at stores by responding to communications from field management. Solicits feedback from operations personnel to improve the design and implementation of marketing activities and responds to local marketing opportunities.
  9. Coordinate quarterly price comparisons in the operating market to monitor pricing strategies.
  10. Monitor competition to understand their merchandising and marketing strategies in order to be proactive in competing from a position of strength.
  11. Maintain standard plan-o-gram sets for all categories. Revise as needed, a minimum of once per-year.
  12. Coordinate the efforts of plan-o-gram implementation including communication, scheduling, compliance, and new item introductions.
  13. Establishes and manages accruals for rebate dollars which are applied to stores.
  14. Working with price book team, coordinate and maintain company price book to approve and add new items and ensuring that price book data is current and accurate.

  • 2-3 years of food service marketing experience preferred.
  • Proven abilities in developing and executing channel business plans, based on sales, product, pricing, promotion, advertising and brand strategies that produced measurable results.
  • A track record of successfully managing multiple projects under time-sensitive conditions
  • Ability to interface effectively with marketing team resources and wide range of key functional groups to achieve objectives.
  • Working knowledge of effective retail marketing media channels including online, offline, and alternative media.
