| Description: | Compensation: $115K +/- base (DOE) + commissions Position Summary The Fuel Sales Representative is responsible for developing and maintaining both branded and commercial fuel sales relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and increasing company revenue through the sale of fuel products and related services. This position will build strong relationships with existing and prospective customers, understand their fuel requirements, provide competitive pricing and service solutions, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, professional, and results-oriented sales professional who is comfortable developing new business, making customer visits and sales calls, negotiating pricing and contracts, and working closely with internal operations and customer service teams to ensure customer needs are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales & Business Development · Develop and maintain a strong portfolio of branded retail and commercial fuel customers. · Identify, prospect, and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territories. · Make outbound sales calls, conduct customer visits, and develop relationships with prospective customers. · Generate leads through networking, referrals, industry contacts, cold calling, and other business development activities. · Present fuel products, pricing, delivery options, and related services to prospective customers. · Prepare proposals, quotes, and sales presentations. · Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements within established company guidelines. · Meet or exceed assigned sales, revenue, volume, and profitability goals. · Monitor market conditions and identify opportunities to increase sales and customer retention. · Maintain accurate records of prospects, customers, quotes, sales activities, and follow-up in the Company's CRM or other designated systems.
Customer Relationship Management · Develop and maintain positive, long-term relationships with customers. · Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts. · Regularly communicate with customers regarding fuel needs, pricing, deliveries, service concerns, and account requirements. · Identify opportunities to increase sales to existing customers. · Respond promptly and professionally to customer questions and concerns. · Work with Operations, Dispatch, Accounting, and Customer Service to resolve customer issues. · Monitor customer satisfaction and take appropriate action to retain business.
Fuel & Industry Knowledge · Maintain a working knowledge of the Company's fuel products, delivery capabilities, pricing structure, and service offerings. · Stay informed regarding fuel market conditions, industry trends, and competitive activity. · Understand customer fuel consumption patterns and recommend appropriate purchasing and delivery solutions. · Maintain awareness of applicable company policies and procedures relating to fuel sales, credit, pricing, safety, and customer accounts. · Communicate market and competitive information to management.
Account Management
· Review assigned accounts to identify changes in fuel volume, purchasing patterns, and profitability. · Assist with establishing appropriate customer pricing and credit terms in accordance with Company policies. · Coordinate with Accounting regarding customer account status, credit concerns, and outstanding balances when necessary. · Monitor account activity and communicate potential issues to management. · Assist with contract renewals and customer agreements. · Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer information.
Internal Collaboration · Work closely with Operations and Dispatch to ensure customer orders and deliveries are coordinated effectively. · Communicate customer requirements and special delivery instructions to appropriate personnel. · Coordinate with Accounting regarding billing, credit, pricing, and account issues. · Provide management with regular updates regarding sales activity, pipeline opportunities, customer concerns, and market conditions. · Participate in sales meetings, company meetings, and training as required.

Required Qualifications · High school diploma or equivalent required. · Previous sales, account management, business development, or customer service experience preferred. · Experience in fuel, petroleum, transportation, energy, commercial services, or a related industry is preferred. · Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. · Ability to develop and maintain professional customer relationships. · Strong organizational and time-management skills. · Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. · Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, CRM systems, and other standard business software. · Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record if travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications · 2+ years of B2B or commercial sales experience. · Existing relationships within the branded fuel, transportation, construction, agricultural, fleet, or commercial industries. · Experience selling diesel, gasoline, lubricants, or other petroleum products. · Experience negotiating commercial pricing or fuel supply agreements. · Knowledge of commercial fuel delivery operations. |
