Description:

Compensation: $220K-250K (DOE; base + bonus)

Opportunity Overview

A growth-focused, multi-division business is seeking a hands-on, operationally minded Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, improve reporting discipline, and serve as a key thought partner to ownership. This is an ideal opportunity for a CFO who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working close to the business, and is equally comfortable driving high-level strategy and stepping into day-to-day execution when needed.

The successful candidate will bring strong financial leadership, a high sense of urgency, and the ability to translate data into practical insights that improve performance, support expansion, and strengthen decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & P&L Leadership

The CFO will own and accelerate the monthly financial close process, with an emphasis on timely, accurate P&L reporting. This leader will be expected to improve internal processes, strengthen reporting systems, remove bottlenecks, and build a financial reporting environment that leadership can rely on with confidence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver accurate monthly P&Ls on an accelerated timeline
  • Improve reporting speed, accuracy, and consistency
  • Strengthen internal workflows and accountability
  • Personally step in when needed to ensure deadlines and standards are met
  • Build scalable systems that reduce the need for rechecking and rework

Operational Reporting & Business Analytics

This role requires a CFO who understands that strong financial leadership begins with operational visibility. The CFO will produce and analyze weekly reporting across key operating areas and convert financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and analyze weekly labor reports
  • Maintain and optimize pricing data on a weekly cadence
  • Deliver weekly trend analysis on business performance and sales activity
  • Drive analytics across multiple business divisions
  • Partner closely with operations and logistics teams
  • Support both strategic decisions and granular operational improvements

Forecasting, Capital Allocation & Growth Planning

The CFO will play a central role in aligning financial strategy with a multi-year growth plan. This includes forecasting, capital planning, cash flow analysis, and support for current and future development projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Produce monthly and quarterly financial projections
  • Conduct quarterly cash flow and capital allocation analysis
  • Align financial planning with a two-year growth and construction pipeline
  • Forecast and allocate capital across current and future projects
  • Provide forward-looking insights to guide ownership decisions

Acquisitions, Expansion & ROI Analysis

As growth opportunities arise, the CFO will be expected to quickly evaluate potential investments, support due diligence, and underwrite opportunities based on current financial position and strategic fit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support acquisition due diligence as opportunities emerge
  • Underwrite potential deals using real-time financial data
  • Evaluate ROI and strategic alignment for expansion opportunities
  • Help determine where the business should invest and grow

Benchmarking, Cost Optimization & Margin Expansion

The CFO will proactively analyze business performance, industry benchmarks, and external data to identify opportunities to improve profitability and expand margins.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze public company data, industry benchmarks, and competitor performance
  • Identify margin expansion opportunities
  • Continuously evaluate the business for inefficiencies and cost savings
  • Proactively uncover revenue growth and margin improvement opportunities
  • Focus on daily operational improvements rather than periodic reviews alone

Insurance, Banking & Financial Partnerships

The CFO will lead key financial partnership processes, including insurance renewal planning and banking relationship analysis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the annual insurance renewal process
  • Optimize coverage while managing cost across key policy areas
  • Analyze banking and financial relationships
  • Provide ownership with insights to support negotiation and optimization

External Reporting & Peer Group Support

The CFO will prepare and present financial information for external peer or study group settings, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and professionalism.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare financial data for external business review groups
  • Present information clearly and confidently
  • Ensure externally shared financials meet a high standard of accuracy

Leadership Expectations

The CFO will lead and develop a finance and accounting team of approximately 6–8 individuals. This leader should be a strong mentor who builds capability, encourages professional growth, and helps team members take on increasing responsibility over time.

The ideal candidate will be collaborative, communicative, and highly engaged across the organization. This is not a siloed finance role. The CFO must work closely with ownership, operations, logistics, and cross-functional teams to solve problems, clarify priorities, and drive execution.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Proven experience as a hands-on, operational CFO or senior financial leader
  • Strong P&L ownership and financial reporting expertise
  • Ability to improve processes, systems, and reporting cadence
  • Experience supporting growth, capital allocation, forecasting, and expansion planning
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into action
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience partnering with ownership or executive leadership
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • A high sense of urgency and execution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to act with incomplete information, communicate early, and refine as needed
  • Proven ability to mentor, develop, and strengthen a finance team

Why This Role

This is a highly visible CFO opportunity for a financial leader who wants to make a direct operational and strategic impact. The role offers the ability to shape financial systems, influence growth decisions, support expansion, and serve as a true thought partner to ownership.

The right candidate will be energized by a role that requires both strategic perspective and hands-on execution, with the opportunity to help guide a growing organization through its next stage of development.
