Overview:

 

Client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join their team. The Senior Staff accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting function through accurate and timely preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and period-end closing activities. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytic skills, and a desire to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to the Controller and will provide support to the CFO and other members of the client's department teams.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Assists with monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Prepares and analyze monthly bank accounts (multiple) to ensure proper recording of transactions and identify discrepancies.
  • Performs monthly account reconciliations for the balance sheet, preparing journal entries for asset, liability, capital and expense accounts by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintains schedules to provide support for the balance sheet accounts.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Gathers and provides necessary account information and documents for annual fiscal year audit.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.

 

Required Skills/Abilities

 

  • Experience working with accounting applications and ERP systems preferred; PDI experience a plus.
  • Must be proficient with Excel and Word.
  • Must have effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytic skills.
  • Ability to work in fast paced team atmosphere.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Critical thinker with the ability to solve problems and ask questions as they arise.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required. CPA a plus.
  • Three or more years of accounting and reporting experience preferred.
