Our client is a regional convenience store company dedicated to providing exceptional service, quality products, and a top-tier customer experience. With a growing network of stores, they are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Regional Operations Manager to oversee multiple districts and drive operational excellence across 50+ locations.

Position Overview

The Regional Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and supporting 4-7 District Managers and ensuring the successful operation of approximately 50 stores. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong retail background, expertise in multi-unit operations, and a passion for driving performance in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will focus on revenue growth, operational efficiency, compliance, and team development while upholding the company’s brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Performance Management

  • Oversee the operations of 4-7 districts, ensuring stores meet or exceed performance goals in sales, profitability, and customer service.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive revenue, optimize labor, and control expenses.
  • Ensure stores adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and health & safety standards.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales trends, labor costs, shrink reduction, and operational efficiencies.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess store conditions, provide coaching, and identify areas for improvement.

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop District Managers to enhance their leadership skills and operational expertise.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through goal-setting, accountability, and recognition programs.
  • Partner with Human Resources to oversee talent acquisition, succession planning, and employee retention strategies.
  • Implement training programs and ensure consistent execution of operational best practices.

Financial & Business Management

  • Develop and manage district and regional budgets, ensuring profitability and cost-control measures.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to review P&L statements, identify opportunities for financial improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts (as needed) and ensure proper inventory control, merchandising, and promotional execution.

Customer Experience & Brand Standards

  • Ensure all locations provide a clean, safe, and customer-friendly shopping experience.
  • Maintain and enforce company brand standards in store appearance, merchandising, and employee engagement.
  • Respond to customer feedback and implement service improvement strategies across the region.

Compliance & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure all stores comply with state and federal regulations, including fuel and food safety standards.
  • Oversee store audits, loss prevention efforts, and risk management initiatives.
  • Work closely with the corporate office on policy updates, operational improvements, and new store openings.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years of retail multi-unit management experience, preferably in convenience stores, fuel retail, grocery, or QSR.
  • Proven track record in managing District Managers and overseeing a large-scale retail operation (50+ locations).
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, P&L management, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Experience in fuel operations, foodservice management, and merchandising is a plus.
