Our client is a premier provider of facilities maintenance and construction services for convenience stores and gas stations. They specialize in ensuring customers' locations remain operational, compliant, and well-maintained through expert facility management, equipment servicing, and new construction projects. They are seeking a Facilities Maintenance & Construction Manager to oversee service operations, manage projects, and ensure top-tier service delivery to our valued clients.

Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance & Construction Manager will be responsible for leading maintenance, repair, and construction projects across multiple customer locations. This role involves managing service teams, coordinating with vendors, overseeing new builds and renovations, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail fuel systems, facility maintenance, and commercial construction.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities & Maintenance Management

  • Oversee maintenance operations for convenience stores and fueling stations, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for fuel dispensers, USTs, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other critical systems.
  • Manage emergency repair response, coordinating with technicians and third-party vendors.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of service history, inspections, and compliance reports.

Construction & Renovation Management

  • Plan and manage construction projects, including new builds, remodels, and site upgrades.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies for project execution.
  • Oversee site inspections, permitting, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure fuel system installations and upgrades meet industry standards.

Vendor & Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing maintenance and construction needs.
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to ensure quality service.
  • Provide regular updates to customers on project status, budget, and expected completion timelines.
  • Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions to enhance facility performance and customer satisfaction.

Team Leadership & Financial Oversight

  • Supervise a team of field technicians, maintenance crews, and project managers.
  • Provide training, support, and performance evaluations for maintenance personnel.
  • Track expenses, manage budgets, and optimize costs without compromising quality.
  • Generate reports on maintenance trends, service performance, and construction progress for leadership and clients.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required). Equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or project management, preferably in the convenience store, fuel station, or retail service industry.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Knowledge of fuel systems, USTs, dispensers, and monitoring equipment.
  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general commercial facility maintenance.
  • Familiarity with building codes, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate timelines, and control budgets.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose facility issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong ability to manage teams, interact with clients, and negotiate with vendors.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in project management tools, maintenance tracking software, and Microsoft Office.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in fuel station construction and environmental compliance.
    • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
