JOB SUMMARY

This position is dedicated to building the Exxpress Mart brand through effective category management, advertising, loyalty marketing, digital marketing, and public relations strategies in a way that develops Exxpress Mart’s unique brand positioning and achieves the Company’s retail profit objectives. This position is responsible for bringing together all marketing and PR initiatives into a cohesive plan to ensure messages and offers complement each another. 

Reporting directly to ownership, this individual directs all efforts related to marketing and merchandising, including advertising, development of loyalty marketing programs, and updated website ensuring they are aligned with the Exxpress Mart brand.  As needed, this position provides coordination and management for public relations activities, including media relations, special events and corporate sponsorships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and oversees advertising / POP and monitors progress and effectiveness of all campaigns and efforts.
  • Stewards the Exxpress Mart brand by ensuring Tri-Con, Inc. and vendor marketing programs are consistent with brand positioning and guidelines across all marketing channels.
  • Develops annual plan and marketing calendar to coordinate campaigns, events and messaging.
  • Works with ownership and vendor partners to develop promotional strategies to support monthly specials, combos, club membership, new offerings, etc.
  • Works to develop and implement a loyalty program, to include reports on bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly KPIs.
  • Vendor supply and contract negotiations.
  • Works with outside agency (as needed) and vendor partners to develop campaigns in accordance with desired launch dates and messaging calendar.  Assists in measuring the effectiveness of campaigns based on stated objectives.
  • Plans, executes and assesses yearly Advertising, PR/Sponsorship budget.
  • Implementation and management of social media marketing efforts.
  • Works closely with operations and facilities to manage brand standards and performs regular inspections of store signage to ensure that corporate brand guidelines are being maintained.
  • Oversees plans for special events and public relations events, including store grand openings.
  • Assesses new opportunities to promote Exxpress Mart’s product offer and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Oversees the development for a Mobile App.
  • Maintains knowledge of primary competitors’ marketing campaigns.
  • Special projects as discussed with ownership.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration is required.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in c-store retail marketing, including category management is required.
  • Experience in the negotiation of vendor supply and service contracts.
  • Foodservice procurement or development experience helpful but not required.
  • Strong background in marketing, advertising, branding, digital marketing and loyalty programs.
  • Strong track record of brand development, including marketing/advertising.
  • Proven experience building positive relationships with operations and vendor partners.
  • Ability to take initiative and solve problems.
  • Strong interest in mobile marketing platforms and driving digital transformation of customer shopping experience.
