Job Summary
:

This position manages merchandising and plan-o-gram functions for all C-store and travel center categories, with the exception of Food Service.  The position will be required to develop and implement merchandising and plan-o-gram strategies for each product/service category in order to maximize overall store profitability and general uniformity.  The Merchandising Manager will also conduct appropriate interaction with the supplier community and internal staff as required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and develop current merchandising priorities, initiatives, and pertinent plan-o-grams for each category merchandising as they relate to current trends and overall impact to the company. 
  • Develop, implement and maintain appropriate plan-o-grams for each assigned category.
  • Review, evaluate and assess category retail sales, gross profit and gross profit % regularly versus plan, same store and other performance tracking or comparisons as necessary to determine optimal merchandising strategy. 
  • Analyze velocity reports on purchases to ensure efforts are focused on the appropriate product mix.
  • Analyze and project profitability of new or special products and make recommendations to management based on findings.
  • Coordinate pricing recommendations based on site visits and market intelligence. 
  • Manage product supply and supplier relationships as assigned; maintain open and effective communication with vendors.
  • Coordinate with Pricebook Department to maintain and update price book information as it becomes available.
  • Effectively communicate with district operations management and store personnel concerning day-to-day operations of their stores as it relates to merchandising initiatives.
  • Works with field operations to ensure timely and accurate implementation and execution of merchandising initiatives and programs.

Required skills, education/experience:

  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years related marketing/merchandise management experience.
  • Plan-o-gram software knowledge required.
  • Plan-o-gram development experience required.
  • Personnel management experience desirable.
  • Grocery and GM merchandising experience highly desirable.
  • Pricebook knowledge
  • Strong retail operations knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

Must have above average computer skills, a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and an excellent understanding of database management.
