Title: Senior Accountant
Region: Great Lakes
Compensation: $75,000.00 Yearly
Description: A highly successful and family-owned C-store and petroleum distribution company seeks a Senior Accountant who will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities. Provide support to CFO and Finance team as needed.
  • Essential Responsibilities:Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Assists in monthly close to meet the monthly close deadlines.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly and verifies deposits.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, credit card accounts, prepaid accounts and other financial accounts.
  • Maintains schedules to provide support for general ledger accounts.
  • Familiarity with preparing and filing taxes.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Familiarity with ERP systems – experience with C-store industry back office systems highly desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in fast paced atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to solve problems as they arise.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and accounting software.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
  • 3-5 years relevant accounting experience in the convenience store and / or petroleum marketing industry experience required
  • 5+ years related work experience
